THE FREERIDE WORLD QUALIFIER IN ARC 1950

From January 20th to 25th 2024

The Freeride World Qualifier consists of 50 or so competitions organised worldwide and bringing together the world’s top freeriders. Each event is classified from 1* to 4*: the more stars a race has, the more points the winners get. The riders with the highest number of points during the Qualifier events go through to the Freeride World Tour.

In France, the vast majority of the Freeride World Qualifier and Freeride Junior Tour competitions form the French Freeride Series.  Right from the start, the company Evolution2 has driven the event through their experience in international competitions and the French Freeride Series team’s goal being to promote freeride which is also an inherent part of Evolution2’s DNA.

The Freeride World Qualifier at Arc 1950, from 20 to 25 January 2024

During the French Freeride World Qualifier event organised by Evolution 2, Arc 1950 le Village will host freeriders from the world over who will compete in the best spots that Les Arcs has to offer. They will be using the Village as their HQ.

On Saturday 20 January, the 3* Freeride Junior Tour will bring together around a hundred young riders from all over the world, before giving way to the adults for the 4* Qualifier on Monday 22 January and the 2* Qualifier on Thursday 25 January.

Acrobatic jumps, elegance and commitment will punctuate these qualifying rounds of the Freeride World Tour. The goal: to score points in each of the winter events, and why not stand on the podium at Arc 1950, where the prize-giving ceremony took place. The village hosts all the event highlights.

ON THE PROGRAMME

January 20, 2024 – French Freeride Junior Tour 3*

100 competitors aged between 14 and 18 will set off from the top of the face chosen for the Freeride Junior Tour 3*.  Beautiful curves, jumps and figures combined with commitment, control, fluidity and caution have been taken into account by the judges, who award each rider a mark. The only things that change are the difficulty of the routes, the gradients and access to certain exposed areas. More and more talented youngsters are turning to off-piste terrain, following in the footsteps of their elders in the Freeride World Qualifier, and dreaming of making it to the prestigious elite round of the Freeride World Tour.

The competitors will set off in the morning from the top of the face chosen for the Freeride Junior Tour. Les Arcs is a rare destination on their winter circuit to offer a wide range of face options to delight these 14-18 year olds.

The young locals from the Freeski Academy are determined to make their mark on their playground, the resort of Les Arcs.

The one and only 4 * French stage of the Freeride World Qualifier took place in Les Arcs. This is a competition that allows Freeriders to score a lot of points to qualify, so it is one of the most difficult events to take up!

And to win this event, who better than a local freerider? This is the feat that Hugo Hoff has achieved! Coming from the Freeski Academy of Les Arcs, this young freerider knew how to impose himself despite the tough competition and the snowfall! Find the France Infos report here!
